Celebrity Juice has lost yet another team captain, as Spice Girls icon Mel B is officially stepping down.
The star only joined the ITV2 comedy show full-time last year, replacing Paddy McGuinness, who himself had replaced Fearne Cotton for just the one series.
A spokesperson for Celebrity Juice told the Daily Star: “Mel has been a brilliant team captain and we’d like to thank her for all the laughs. We have no doubt she’ll be back to banter with Keith as a guest on the show in the near future.
“A brand-new series of Celebrity Juice will be on ITV2 this autumn with two new team captains and a whole host of guests… watch this space!”
Could Mel’s 2021 be booked up with another, possibly worldwide, Spice Girls tour? One can dream.
The ‘two new team captains’ refers to the fact that Holly Willoughby recently announced that she has also stepped down as a team captain. Does that mean that Emily Atack will finally get to step up to being a captain? We sure hope so.
Keith Lemon’s real-life alter-ego Leigh Francis recently issued an apology video over his use of blackface in his early 2000s show Bo’ Selecta!, where he impersonated Black celebrities like Trisha Goddard and Craig David.
Trisha has acknowledged Leigh’s apology, and opened up about how her children were bullied in school specifically because of the impressions of her mother.
Celebrity Juice is set to return to ITV2 later this year.
