FOOTBALL legend Eric Cantona is top of ITV bosses’ wish list for I’m A Celebrity this year.
The eccentric Manchester United idol is known for bizarre comments and behaviour.
TV chiefs think he would be great to watch tackling bugs and critters in the jungle.
Show producer Richard Cowles named the 53-year-old Frenchman when asked who he is most eager to hire.
He said: “I just like the idea of Eric Cantona talking in French and coming up with really profound things. That would be good.”
In the 1990s, confident Eric’s effortless skills made him a favourite with United fans, who would chant “Ooh aah, Cantona”.
He ended up in court after his 1995 kung-fu kick assault on a Crystal Palace fan during a match
After winning an appeal to be spared jail, all he said to the waiting media was: “When the seagulls follow the trawler, it is because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea.”
He is now an actor.
Mr Cowles, speaking at a Royal Television Society talk in Birmingham also said he would love to bag ex-United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, 78, but added: “That will never happen.”
