He had us squirming on the sofa as he ate grubs in the jungle.
And guffawing and sobbing with the recent Harry’s Heroes.
But now Harry Redknapp is the one who gets to put his feet up and be entertained.
For he and his beloved wife Sandra, both 73, have taken on a new, more relaxing, TV project – Celebrity Gogglebox.
In the Channel 4 series, starting on June 5, they will watch telly highlights but, unlike in previous series, lockdown means they will be filmed by a single mounted camera, not a film crew.
New celebrity viewers will also include Love Island lovers Iain Stirling and Laura Whitmore, boxer Nicola Adams and her partner Ella Baig, and, as revealed this month, Zoe Ball and her son Woody Cook, 19.
Returning Goggleboxers will include Denise van Outen and her partner Eddie Boxshall, Nick Grimshaw and his niece Liv and Joe Swash and Stacey Solomon. But with lockdown shutting down so many shows, what will they all be watching?
Denise says: “It would be nice to see some of the iconic soap episodes. Scott and Charlene’s wedding from Neighbours especially.”
For Harry’s sake they should stay away Euro 96 repeats, especially that penalty shoot out? And for their son Jamie’s sake not Normal People either.
Seeing his parents choke on their jam roly poly as Paul Mescal flashes his bits would be more stomach-churning than the I’m a Celeb grubs.
