Hairstyling is a family affair for celebrity stylist Kim Kimble. The California-based hairstylist has followed the example of her mother and two grandmothers, who were hairstylists. Trained at Vidal Sassoon Academy and Dudley Cosmetology University in North Carolina, Kimble’s clients include names such as Beyoncé, Shakira, Mary J. Blige, Zendaya, Kelly Rowland, Storm Reid and Brandy. Kimble has also developed her haircare product range, Kim Kimble Signature Collection and operates a full-service salon, Kimble Hair Studio in West Hollywood. Her work has been featured in a range of magazines including Vanity Fair, Allure, InStyle, Essence, Glamour and Vogue. She has also worked on national ad campaigns for Pepsi, Neutrogena, Nike, CoverGirl, McDonald’s and L’Oréal.

Their business:

“Future plans of course are building my hair empire and making global haircare. Touring, educating around the world, not just to hairstylists but to aspirational hairstylists, using my hair career to inspire.”

Who were you trained by and how did that experience help shape your career?

“My mother and all the stylists because she had me train in the salon and learn from multiple stylists. I learned extensions from a stylist in the salon, my mother didn’t even do those. My mother taught me about color and cutting. Thermal and texturizing: It made me a well-rounded stylist. I got opportunities to learn on a couple different textures. I went on to take many different classes after I got my license. It made me very versatile. I was open to learning a lot. I didn’t stop working at it until I felt that I was confident and comfortable in each area I was working.”

Who inspires them:

“My mother of course and grandmother. I’m a third generation hairstylist.”

Kimble has shared the “Bey-chella,” a natural curly hair style that she created for Beyoncé.

1.Wash and condition hair with Curl Shampoo and Curl Conditioner.

2. Use the Thermal Setting Mousse and then let it dry natural because the foam dries really fast. This help set the curls and defines them and adds body. The Setting Foam dries really quickly and leaves a soft texture.
